Studi Ekskursi Teknik Kimia Dekatkan Mahasiswa dengan Kenyataan Dunia kerja

Malang, ITN.AC.ID – Dunia perkuliahan dengan praktek kerja di lapangan amatlah berbeda. Ada jarak antara teori dan praktek. Jarak inilah yang coba didekatkan oleh Prodi Teknik Kimia S-1 Institut Teknologi Nasional (ITN) Malang dengan mengunjungi perusahaan, dan studi banding ke perguruan tinggi. Selama dua hari sebanyak 39 mahasiswa beserta tiga dosen Teknik Kimia ITN Malang melakukan Studi Ekskursi (SE) Teknik Kimia 2023, Rabu-Kamis (08-09/2/2023).
Mahasiswa angkatan 2020 dan 2021 ini mengunjungi PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Pradha Karya Perkasa Mojokerto, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya (ITS), dan Universitas Surabaya (Ubaya). Perusahaan yang berada di Gresik dan Mojokerto tersebut melakukan proses dan produksi yang memiliki kaitan dengan mata kuliah di teknik kimia. Sementara, ITS dan Ubaya sama-sama memiliki prodi teknik kimia.
“Kunjungan ke perusahaan ini dilakukan agar mahasiswa lebih memahami mengenai alat-alat dan proses industri kimia. Sehingga mahasiswa mampu membandingkan antara teori yang didapat di perkuliahan dengan keadaan sebenarnya pada suatu industri. Pengetahuan ini akan berguna bagi kami kelak ketika lulus dan terjun ke dunia kerja,” kata Veronica Putri Iswono, ketua pelaksana studi ekskursi saat dihubungi lewat sambungan whatsapp, Senin (13/2/2023).

Mahasiswa semester 5 ini bersama teman-temannya sangat terkesan saat berkunjung ke beberapa area industri. Seperti ketika mengunjungi Petrokimia Gresik sebagai salah satu pabrik besar yang ada di Indonesia. Di sana mereka berkeliling melihat-lihat kondisi pabrik, serta fasilitasnya. Pengunjung juga dipermudah dengan adanya museum yang berisikan seluk beluk alat-alat yang digunakan oleh pabrik.

“Saat di Petrokimia kami juga diajak berkeliling ke pelabuhan. Bener-bener keren di sana. Kalau di PT Pradha kami diperlihatkan proses pengolahan dari plastik yang sangat relevan dengan mata kuliah teknologi polimer,” ujar mahasiswa asal Malang ini.
Sementara untuk kunjungan ke kampus, mahasiswa Kampus Biru ITN Malang melakukan diskusi, dan sharing pengalaman. Mereka juga diizinkan mengunjungi laboratorium, serta berdiskusi dan bertukar cerita dengan sesama mahasiswa. Tentunya ini menambah wawasan tentang teknik kimia sekaligus menambah relasi.
“Dengan kunjungan-kunjungan tersebut semoga tercipta suatu hubungan yang sinergis, jelas, dan terarah antara perguruan tinggi dan industri sebagai pengguna output-nya. Serta bisa memenuhi tujuan dari kegiatan SE yang ada,” katanya.

Hal senada juga disampaikan oleh Dio Ajeng, mahasiswa semester 3. Ia sangat beruntung mengikuti kegiatan SE. Kunjungan yang luar biasa dan sangat seru, karena bisa menambah wawasan, pola pikir, kreativitas, dan pengalaman yang dirasakan dan dilihat secara langsung.
“Di sana kami bisa menganalisa suatu pembelajaran baik di tingkat perguruan tinggi atau industri. Kemudian (yang belum ada) akan pelan-pelan kami diterapkan ke Teknik Kimia ITN Malang. Saya berharap dengan diadakannya SE akan terjalin hubungan baik, sehingga bisa berkolaborasi untuk bersama-sama meningkatkan kualitas Teknik Kimia di Indonesia,” terangnya.
